2. Data Collection

TideNow does not collect any personal data. Specifically:

Location data: The app may optionally use your device's location to find the nearest tide station. Your location is processed exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any third parties.
No user accounts: The app does not require any registration or login.
No analytics: The app does not use any analytics, tracking, or crash reporting services.
No advertising: The app contains no advertisements and no advertising trackers.

3. Third-Party Data Sources

TideNow retrieves tide data from the following public services:

Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH): Water level and tide forecasts for German coastal waters. Only the selected station is queried – no personal data is transmitted.
TideCheck API: Supplementary tide data for international locations. No personal data is transmitted in these requests.

When making these requests, your device's IP address is technically transmitted to the respective server as part of standard internet communication. This data is not stored or analyzed by us.

4. Local Data Storage

The app stores the following data exclusively on your device:

Your selected tide station (favorites)
App settings and preferences
Cached tide data for the widget

This data never leaves your device and can be deleted at any time by removing the app.

5. Widgets

The TideNow widget uses a shared App Group to exchange tide data between the app and the widget on your device. This data remains entirely on your device.

6. Children's Privacy

TideNow does not collect any personal information from any user, including children. The app is safe for users of all ages.

7. Apple App Store Review – Compliance Details

In accordance with Apple's App Review Guidelines (including Guidelines 1.3 and 2.1), we confirm the following:

Does the app include third-party analytics?
No. TideNow does not include any third-party analytics tools or services. No usage data, behavioral data, or device data is collected for analytics purposes.

Does the app include third-party advertising?
No. TideNow does not include any advertising whatsoever. There are no ad networks, ad SDKs, or advertising trackers integrated into the app.

Will the data be shared with any third parties?
No. TideNow does not share any user data with third parties. All data processed by the app (location, settings, cached tide information) remains exclusively on the user's device. The only outbound network requests are to public tide data APIs (BSH, TideCheck) to retrieve tide forecasts, and these requests contain no personal or user-identifying information beyond the standard IP address inherent in any internet request.

Is the app collecting any user or device data for purposes beyond third-party analytics or third-party advertising?
No. TideNow does not collect any user or device data. The app does not use device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV), does not fingerprint devices, and does not collect any telemetry. The optional location permission is used solely to determine the nearest tide station, and this processing occurs entirely on-device.
